So many times, we allow things, situations and people to get under our skin. Even a simple thing as being in traffic during rush hour or missing a doctor’s appointment can ruin our entire day. Why do people let small things affect their whole mindset? You have to learn how to live in the moment and appreciate your life. Don’t let the hustle and bustle of life take over your very existence.

Now, there are some people who wouldn’t dare come out of their comfort zone. They are quite contented in the daily routines of their life and so when faced with situations that force them to make changes; they don’t have the willpower and discipline or even tenacity to move forward. These are the people who are afraid of change and view adversity as something negative.

Adversity can be turned around to benefit you. It can force you to get out of what is comfortable to you. It can allow you to use your situation to help others. It can propel you into your purpose. So when something happens that you view as being ‘bad,’ think positively and consider how you can use it in a positive way.

Bear in mind that if there were no winters, then springtime would not be a welcoming pleasantry to many.
If our lives are void of adversity, then success and prosperity would not be something that we anticipate. There are so many positives when it comes to facing your adversity head on. If you would just embrace the power that you have within and welcome the challenge that will reveal your innate power, you will definitely survive. There is a saying that goes like this: “What doesn’t kill you won’t hurt you!” Live by it!

Your choices

You have just two choices to make when you face adversity. You can either succumb to it or you can view it as an opportunity you can seize. You have the ability to take control of any situation. Sometimes, we really are not aware of our capabilities and that is usually the problem. We doubt ourselves and that seems to be the demise. However, it is time for you to decide whether you are going to get through the crisis by taking control of the situation or you are going to let it control you.

Here are some things you should consider and questions that you can ask yourself if you are confronted with a crisis:

  • What did I learn from it?
  • How can I apply these life lessons?
  • How can I use this to be an example to others?
  • What opportunity do I have to share my story?

Napoleon Hill said, “The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.”

After you have acknowledged the pain resulting from your adversity, begin to distance yourself from it, but never deny that it happened. Instead, talk about how you overcame everything. If you are so inclined, write a book about it so that you can empower others. Let us know what adversities have you overcome? How did you do it? Please share your story here with us. We would love to hear it and in so doing, you will be helping someone else. Believe me, you will!
