Why do people delay things?
People will put off things because they don’t want to deal with the immediate stress that it may cause. Some will be of the belief that they can actually get it done later. Others will be overwhelmed by the situation and feel that they just cannot deal with it at that moment. Some people are lazy and some have no confidence that they can do it. Which category do you fall in?
Are you the kind of person that gets an adrenalin rush when you successfully complete something at the last minute? It is possible that you love the feeling that it gives you – invincibility and superiority. However, the bottom line is that last minute actions are not necessarily the best way to handle situations. Overcoming this deficiency is not going to be easy. It is going to take gradual effort on your part.
Take Small Steps
If you have a large project or important business to attend to, why not do it a little at a time? Write a list of the different things you need to accomplish in order to finish the final project. When you complete one of those items on the list, check it off and continue to the next one. In so doing, you will be able to tackle the larger project on a smaller scale. You will have less hassle and less pressure put on yourself.
Keep a Scheduled Calendar
For those who procrastinate, it may be that they have no idea of how to manage their time. Time management is important to being organized. Use a calendar or day planner to manage your time. These days, cell phones come with calendars and alarms. Get acquainted with this cell phone feature. It can be quite useful.
