How close are you to the age of 60 or have you already reached this age milestone? Don’t worry, you are not alone. But, does it bother you at all that you are so much closer to 70? Don’t let it bother you either. There is nothing to dread. Enjoy your life and live in the present. Some women sail through their sixties without ‘stopping to smell the roses,’ while others cherish each day as it comes.

If you are the kind of person who is outgoing and love adventure, then this is the ideal age where you should force yourself to experience as much as possible such as going on a cruise or traveling to a new country. You can have a delightful and pleasure-filled decade, if you are open to exploring. The aging process is a virtual trivial process until you get to your ninth or tenth era. So, savor every minute of your sixties.

Lifestyle changes

This is the decade when your lifestyle will be the most important, especially before advancing to the next decade. You want to eat a diet that is well balanced. Focus on being in quiet environments and less in loud and busy environments. This will help to prevent some of the eye and ear disorders that come with aging. If you notice any impediment of your five senses, go see a doctor.

What to expect?

Of course, aging will take a toll on your vision, so you will probably find it more difficult to see in dim light. When you are in your sixties, you require as much as three times more light for reading as a twenty year old does. At the age and after the age of sixty, you risk getting macular degeneration, but that is nothing that consistent antioxidants and fish oil diet can’t fix.

Intimacy with a spouse or partner at this age could be better than experienced before. Why? Well, you have more time to spend with your loved one and there are not as many distractions. You are now comfortable with who you are and have accepted yourself. You might be set in your ways, but that is understood.

If you have problems with intimacy, you can see a doctor for hormone therapy since there will be a decline in female estrogen and male testosterone. There is a wide range of over-the-counter medications that are effective.

Your immune system is going to be a little more over-reactive than usual, so you may develop an allergic reaction to certain things. You may get sick more often, but your doctor may be able to prescribe something to take care of this. At this age, you might experience chronic inflammation and arthritis. Your feet and hands may feel as if it is burning up with heat because of your arthritis. This can be soothed with medication, exercise and a healthy diet.

Go to the bathroom before bedtime. However, there are times during the night when you still have to go. Try to lower your fluid intake by 6 PM. Avoid caffeine during the afternoon. Check your doctor to see if you have an overactive bladder problem. Avoid stressful circumstances. If you keep forgetting things, make a list and put reminders on a sticky and place on your refrigerator.
